IB - A Strong Foundation for All Students

IB Diploma is not a program that “duplicates” the AP track, but provides another option--a comprehensive curriculum that draws in students of different backgrounds and creates a well-rounded student. Children and parents concerned that their children are being “tracked,” stuck in lower levels with lower expectations, have the opportunity to enter IB classes and be part of an internationally recognized and proven program.

Research has shown that if a student is exposed to one high-level course, it will provide them with important skills for success in college. Because IB draws on a wider range of abilities, and prepares students with greater critical thinking and writing skills, research has also shown that IB students fare better once in college. This is crucial for minority students—especially African-American students—who have very high drop-out rates in college.
